5.6 Magnitude Quake Rocks Indonesia

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck off the indonesian island of Sumatra approximately an hour ago. There were no reports of damage or any tsunami warnings

that have been issued.

The quake was 39 kilometres about 24 miles at 6:52 pm around 115 kilometers wes of the city of Bengkulu in Sumatra, reported the U.S Geological survey, dropped down

an initial 5.9 magnitude estimate.

The good news is that there are no tsunami warnings or adivisories in effect according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring Of Fire", where the meeting of continental plates has caused very high seismic activity, and is also hit by earthquakes.

One of the most powerful quakes jolted the indonesian resort island of Bali on OCtober 13th, which injured about a 12 people and causing panic as many visitors fled from the jolted buildings.

From the looks of recent quakes, the ring of fire is active and continuing too cause tremors from tectonic plate movement.
